Choosing the Right Colour and Finish for Your 3D Print

The same design can feel completely different in black, a soft pastel or a changing rainbow. Start with where your print will live and the look you want, then choose a material that suits the job. A beautiful finish still needs to be right for the part’s use.

Matte for a quieter look

If you want an understated desk accessory or display piece, consider PLA Matte Black. Its low-sheen finish is a useful choice when you want shape and detail to take centre stage. Layer lines still exist; the finish changes how the surface catches the light.

Pastels for a coordinated palette

Try PLA Macaron Peach Pink with PLA Macaron Wisteria Purple for a soft colour pairing. Our suggestion: use one shade for larger organisers and the second for labels or smaller matching pieces. Keeping the design consistent lets the colours do the work.

Rainbow for colour changes in one spool

PLA Macaron Rainbow offers a changing pastel palette, while PLA Candy Rainbow is an option for a brighter look. The colours you see in a finished model depend on which part of the spool it uses and how much filament it consumes. A small print may not show the full gradient.

Marble for stone-inspired décor

PLA Marble gives you a speckled, stone-inspired look. Consider it for a pen pot, decorative tray or sculptural display piece. It remains PLA: a stone-like appearance does not give it the heat resistance or weight of real stone.

Match a finish to the room

Screen colours and lighting can differ from the finished print. Compare a small sample in the room where you will use it, and keep notes on the profile that gave you the finish you liked.
